Alfredo Celis is Professor of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at University of Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Mexico. He is the chair of the Regional Institute for Public Health Research within the Department of Public Health, Health Science Campus.

Dr Celis received master's level training in public health at the University of Guadalajara and doctoral training in epidemiology in a University of Guadalajara/University of Washington joint programme.

In addition to research, Dr Celis teaches quantitative methods to postgraduate students and clinical epidemiology to physicians. He also provides consultation to faculty and fellows within the Health Campus of the University of Guadalajara on research design and data analysis.

Dr Celis's professional interests are in the area of injury research, mainly in studying risk factors in developing countries that are different from those in industrialised countries.
