752 Caring patients and reducing losses during flooding through an integrated medical management system

Abstract

Flooding is a public disaster that affects many people. There is a greater risk of illness problems. Caring for patients is difficult. However, creating a medical management system in flood situations that is systematically integrated from all sectors clearly in the context of Thailand is very important. That it can be used to prepare for flood situations that will occur in the future. Objective :To study the effectiveness of the integrated medical management system on patient care and losses during flooding in the context of Thailand. Methods: This is a retrospective study by collecting data from reports on integrated operations during floods of 2019 and 2022 in Warinchamrap,Thailand. Results :From the establishment of the integrated care system, First aid units have been established at 12 affected communities, helping patients to receive treatment more quickly. No need to make a difficult trip to the hospital. There was a system for moving bedridden patients from their homes to temporary shelters before a crisis occurs. There was a system for delivering medicine to chronically ill patients before the flood. There was a list of vulnerable people. There was a coordinated system for transferring patients. As a result, in 2019, 5758 patients received treatment faster. Chronic patients received care for 1099 cases. Vulnerable people received assessments 2732 cases. Victims received mental status assessments 6241 cases. 15 patients were at high risk of suicide and received treatment. In 2022, 6089 patients receive treatment faster. Chronic patients receive care 496 cases. Bedridden patients 27 cases were cared for in shelters. The time required to transport emergency patients was reduced from approximately 4 hours per case to 45 minutes. Patients 5 cases with FAST TRACK emergency were transferred by air. Vulnerable people received assessments for 1697 cases. Victims received mental evaluations for 4271 cases. Ten people at high risk of suicide and received treatment. Hospitals affected by flooding had their damage values reduced more than 50 percent. Conclusion: The integrated medical management system in the flood helps victims receive good care, more efficient and faster treatment. The loss value of medical facilities affected by flooding has decreased.
