Abstract

Khon Kaen city, Thailand has high rates of death and head injury of motorcyclists. Insufficient helmet law enforcement causes low rate of helmet wearing. The 24-hour law enforcement project by CCTV was introduced at Phatumuang signalized intersection in Khon Kaen City, Thailand. The objective of this study is to evaluate the project. The behavior of helmet wearing and rate of traffic accident at the intersection were observed and recorded at a month before and after a project start. The evaluation result reveals after a project implementation, the percentage of helmet wearing increased from 82% to 89%. The traffic accident rate decreased from 2.4 to 1 case per month. The behavior of helmet wearing could be changed by the law enforcement by technology. It decreased number of traffic accident.
