Who is Susan P Baker and why did she win the Calderone Prize?

No one who reads this journal should need to ask ‘who is Susan Baker?’ given her more than four decades of leadership in injury control. She has been honoured by many academic and scientific organisations in public health and medicine recognising her numerous contributions to the field of public health, including a Bad Guy of the Month award from Road Rider magazine for her efforts to promote motorcycle helmets. But some readers may be unfamiliar with the full range of her contributions.
