    ‘Embrace life’ takes gold at international advertising awards

    A panel of 250 international judges has awarded the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership's Embrace Life seat belt campaign a Gold World Medal at the New York Festival International Advertising Awards. Embrace Life has been feted globally for its innovative and emotional approach to a well-trodden safety message. The advertisement was created as a low-budget pilot that aimed to try a new and more positive approach to getting road safety messages across. It rose to success across the globe when it was released on to YouTube in February 2010, culminating in its nomination at the New York Festival International Advertising Awards. Embrace Life went up against full budget adverts from across the globe, but managed to leave with the highest honour. The ad can be viewed at http://www.embracethis.co.uk/.

    Burns prevention newsletter

    A new quarterly burns prevention newsletter, Stay Safe, an initiative of the Victorian Burns Prevention Partnership, was first published in July 2009. It aims to provide valuable fire safety and burns prevention information to parents, teachers, grandparents and all those responsible for the care of newborns and young children. The Victorian Burns Prevention Partnership is a collaboration between the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Country Fire Authority, Victorian Adult Burns Service at The Alfred Hospital, and The Royal Children's Hospital. Stay Safe has been distributed to kindergartens and primary schools. It can be downloaded from http://bit.ly/9jzgZ3.
